In between my visits to the various departments at the hospital I have to visit my GP for pain killers etc. and on one of these visits I asked if there was any other medication I could try as nothing had helped so far.
She said that I should get an appointment with her new partner as he had given her some homeopathic medicine for her arthritis and it had worked wonders.
So, the following week I went to see the new doctor. I explained my problem, history and what the other doctor had said and he had a quick look through my notes and asked me to take off my shoe and sock and lie on the couch. I grew a bit suspicious when he said ‘Have you ever had acupuncture before?’. As I hadn’t, I was quite interested in what was about to happen as I had seen it on the TV many times.
I soon discovered that reality is different from television as every one of the six needles he inserted into my foot hurt. After he had removed the needles and stemmed the flow of blood he gave me a prescription for two different drugs, one for the mornings and one for the nights and he said I should return in a month.
Well, a month went by and there was no improvement but I went back to see if he would stab me again.
He didn’t stab me again he just told me to take both the drugs three times a day and return after another month. On the next visit, as there had been no change he gave me three doses of a powder and wait another month.
Next time I saw him he said that as he had been just as crap as every other doctor I’d seen (his words not mine) he wasn’t going to give me anything else but I should see him again after I had been to the hospital.
