A few weeks after my arm op. I thought it was about time to re-arrange the physio on my knee and when I rang the surgery to sort out an appointment, I think I surprised the receptionist as I don’t think she’d heard them called Physio-terrorists before.
I went to the appointment and told her why I was there i.e., for my knee but also to see if she could show me some exercises, I could do to help me build up the muscles in my left arm which over 30 years of inactivity had wasted terribly.
She showed me some exercises for my arm and some for my knee, that I could do at home and she said she’d e-mail them all to me. Some of the exercises use the elasticated bands that I’ve since bought.
I don’t know how long I’ve got to do these exercises before I can get on the next stage of the arthritis Snakes & Ladders game i.e., go and see the orthos at the Conquest.
My Knee! My Knee! My Knee!
(To the tune of Money. Money. Money. By ABBA)
I groan all night; I groan all day the pain I have won’t go away
Ain’t it sad?
And still there never seems to be a single minute’s respite for me
That’s too bad.
In my dreams they make it stop
By giving me a decisive op
I’d never have to limp again; never more would I be in pain.
My knee! My knee! My knee!
It’s not funny
In an arthritics world
My knee! My knee! My knee!
Never sunny
In an arthritics world
OW OW-W-W
All the things I could do
If I didn’t have arthritis
What a wretched life!
A day pain free is hard to find but I can’t get it off my mind
Ain’t it sad?
And if they developed a cure, it wouldn’t be for me I’m sure
That’s too bad
Maybe I’ll win the Lottery
Then I’ll get a replacement knee
No longer will I be so lame; my life will never be the same.
My knee! My knee! My knee!
It’s not funny
In an arthritics world
My knee! My knee! My knee!
Never sunny
In an arthritics world
OW OW-W-W
All the things I could do
If I didn’t have arthritis
What a wretched life!
The main problems I have at the moment are that apart from my 2 hips and my right knee, my left knee has started being really painful, again, and of course my right ankle likes to remind me it’s still there every so often.
Also, many years ago I broke 2 bones in my right foot when I was diving into the swimming pool at an exercise class to improve my mobility and this flares up every now and then as they diagnosed that as having a ‘degenerative process’!
With all these problems I really don’t have a leg to stand on!
After I get my left hip replaced, I wonder which joint will be next? My other hip or one or both of my knees or all three joints. I’ll get into the Guinness Book of Records yet!
