16. Hip Hip Not Hooray

In late 2016 my hips started playing up with the left hip being the worse one and after the usual start at the GP and going on to the orthopaedic surgeons at the Conquest hospital I was told I needed a total hip replacement.

They asked me where I would like to have the operation done as they said I could have it done at the Conquest or a private clinic called the Horder Clinic. I thought it would be nice to see what a private clinic was like so I opted for that.

The first appointment for the clinic came through for February 2017 where they checked me over but the surgeon said that unfortunately my BMI was too high to do my operation there as they had no facilities if anything went wrong.

So, I went back to the Conquest in June 2017, where they also told me that in order to go ahead with my operation, I would have to reduce my BMI. So back on the diet for me.
