6. Over To Rheu (1)

After a couple of years Mr. S. said he could do no more for me.  So, I started seeing people in the Rheumatology department.

 

The first consultant I saw there was a woman who asked if Mr. S. had performed the actual synovectomy operation. I said I didn’t know, as I was asleep at the time. She didn’t see the funny side of this comment, which left me believing that in order for a doctor to become a consultant they have to have their sense of humour surgically removed.

 

The Rheumatology department only managed to give me another steroid injection, which was even more painful than the first, but it did get rid of the pain for a short while.
